With reference to your selection for admission into the R.N.A.S. as a temporary Probationary Flight Officer (Aeroplane Pilot) and the fact that you signed an agreement when before the Selection Committee to the effect that you would , if necessary accept the conditions appertaining to Flting Officers of the Royal Air Force, I have to inform you that owing to the amalgamation of the RNAS and the RFC on the 1st April 1918, thereby constituting the Royal Air Force, the entry of Aeroplane Pilots in the RNAS has now ceased.

As a result it will not now be possible to join with the rank of Probationary Flight Officer and it will therefore be necessary that you enter as a Cadet in the Royal Air Force. I accordingly enclose for your information a copy of the provisional regulations governing entry in this capacity. Owing to the lack of accommodation at the Training School, however, it is not possible at the moment to furnish you with a definite date as to when you will be required to commence your training, but it is possible that it may be either during April or May , according to your position on the waiting list.

I have to request that you will state whether you are willing to accept the conditions set forth above. If not your application will be considered as withdrawn and the Ministry of National Service will be informed accordingly.

Finally I am to add that you should not purchase any uniform as this is furnished as a cadet on joining.
I am Sir,
Your obedient sevant

Director of personnel Services
