I don't suppose medical students will have any preference in the matter of discharges(when they come)

Darling Mother
Thanks very much for letter and baccy but I really don't want a parcel just yet as the last is not finished. Jarret has had a huge larder recently and we can't consume the stuff as fast as it comes in!! I have got a pipe here so don't trouble to send one. There is no flu here = indeed its hard to imagine how there could be. The beds are boards on trestles a paliasse of straw and three blankets but with flying coat and greatcoat its more than enough.

I am sorry you have had a bad cold but it is a good thing you've kept clear of the flu specially as M. had it. I don't suppose medical students will have any preference in the matter of discharges(when they come) + in any case I'm not a medical student. I wish I had matriculated instead. Of Queens – I've gained nothing from that while I should now be a fully registered medical student ready to carry on with the real thing instead of being faced with starting latin all over again not to say addition and subtraction. That's a good guess work alone and I’m not particularly relishing that business after being discharged from the army, in fact it quite takes away all pleasure in looking forward to medicine.

Tons of love and kisses
Your loving son Dudley
