Darling Mother

Thanks very much for letter and goggles which both arrived today. They are just right and the ones I wanted. I'm afraid you must have had a lot of trouble to get them as Gieves is a good way from Picadilly but am very glad you've succeded - that's a great trouble removed. I enclose £2 from Jarret. I couldn't send the extra 2/- as postal orders are of course unobtainable here. No there are no fires in the hut, in fact it is actually colder, being stone, than tents but rather more waterproof. There is no sign of flu here but I will follow your directions and thanks very much for getting the choc. but of course that hasn't yet arrived. xxx are very difficult to get and at present impossible but I hope to get some shortly .... tons of love and kisses
