| Sgts Mess 14 TDS Lake Down Salisbury Darling mother, Thanks very much for cigarettes, they arrived this morning . I shan’t want a parcel for some little time yet as the other one is still going strong. There is no influenza here – not a single case in the station so please don’t send any more medicines . I have got enough to see London Hospital through a ten years plague . There is no suggestion of being for months and perhaps years yet – I am young and have been in the army a comparatively short time so shan't get my ticket for a long time yet. I have got another instructor – a certain Lieutenant Gordon.He is a very nice chap + believes in plenty of Dual but has only just returned from leave himself so there’s no chance of my getting any, especially as the new major has Posted up notices in all the flight group offices to say that in future no pupils will have leave when their instructors have it unless they have passed a lot of their flying tests which puts the tin hat on any possibility of my getting away. I shall probably have a few days at Xmas or New Year but nothing else. Its abominably cold but it doesn’t affect flying as with full flying kit you are quite alright – especially in Avros where you are right inside the fuselage and only your head comes out of the top.
