Madam,
With reference to your letter of 9-12-18 in regard to your son, I beg to express regret that it is not possible for this Department to obtain his immediate release from HM Forces. I am however to state that arrangements have been made for an employer who wishes to make a definite offer of employment to a man serving in the Forces to notify the local Employment Exchange on a card B.D.406, which this employer can obtain at any Labour Exchange . This will ensure that the man concerned, providing he is willing to accept the employment offered , will be specially noted so that his release may have priority when general demobilisation begins

I am Madam
Your obedient servant
J.A. Barlow
