Darling Mother

Thanks very much for parcel which arrived today. It will see me through at Uxbridge, I think a haven’t yet quite finished last one. I hope to get home tomorrow (Saturday) week but shall have a colossal amount of baggage as we are issued with full flying kit before leaving here and it will be some job to get home as in itself it forms a parcel as big as a ….. trunk.

Am sorry you are having rotten weather at Brighton, it has been so frightfully hot here that shirtsleeves have become the parade uniform ( a thing almost without precedent in the Army). I had my interview last night , he only asked me my school, whether I had any rank at the Cadet B…ds at Hastings what sports I had played at Uxbridge, and also if I joined straight from civil life. Of course, I didn’t hold any rank at Hastings + haven’t been in any Squadron sports down here so it’s none too promising. Fancy old Peitz ??? (female name) being down there again – is she still the prize beauty of the place?
Tons of love and kisses

Your loving son Dudley
